The Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) has concluded investigations into a shooting incident at C&M Lounge in Kitengela, Kajiado County, and recommended that five suspects face charges of murder and attempted murder.
Incident and Initial Response
According to a press statement dated February 24, 2026, the shooting occurred in the early hours of Sunday, January 25, 2026. Detectives secured the scene and launched investigations led by the Sub-County Criminal Investigations Officer (SCCIO) Isinya, working alongside Crime Scene Investigators.
Key exhibits, including spent cartridges, were recovered for forensic examination.
Forensic Analysis
On January 26, 2026, experts from the National Forensic Laboratory specializing in ballistics, imaging, and acoustics conducted a detailed examination of the scene. Investigators also analyzed CCTV footage and submitted three firearms surrendered by individuals under investigation for ballistic testing.
A total of 11 witnesses recorded statements during the inquiry.
Recommendations to ODPP
Upon completing investigations, the SCCIO Isinya forwarded the file and recommendations to the Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions (ODPP), Kajiado, on February 2, 2026.
The inquiry recommended that five suspects be charged with:
- Murder under Section 203 as read with Section 204 of the Penal Code
- Attempted murder under Section 220 of the Penal Code
The charges relate to the shooting of Kevin Shepashina Maselie and Joseph Kasio, who were hospitalized following the incident.
