Four young individuals from Mulot, Bomet County, have been detained in Eldoret after being misled by fraudsters claiming they were selected to replace Kenya Defence Forces (KDF) recruits at the Recruits Training School (RTS).
Uasin Gishu County Police Commander Benjamin Mwanthi confirmed that the youths are currently held at Baharani Police Station in Turbo Sub-County. They were apprehended on Tuesday evening while being transported in three PSV vehicles.
Commander Mwanthi revealed that investigations are underway to identify the perpetrators behind the scam. The conmen reportedly exploited rumors that some recruits had been turned away from RTS due to medical disqualifications.
He also urged the public to exercise caution, remain vigilant against similar schemes, and promptly report suspicious activities to the relevant authorities.
