The High Court of Kenya has issued temporary orders preventing former Nairobi Governor Mike Sonko from publishing or disseminating content deemed defamatory against lawyer and political commentator Miguna Miguna.

The ruling, delivered at Milimani Law Courts, grants interim relief to Miguna, recognising the urgency of his application. The court has also directed that pleadings be served and set a directions hearing for May 5, 2026.

Under the order, Sonko, his agents, or anyone acting on his behalf are barred from making statements considered defamatory, scandalous, or malicious about Miguna. The application additionally seeks the removal of any content already published across social media platforms, including X (formerly Twitter), YouTube, Facebook, and Instagram.

High Court Judge Janet Mulwa, who signed the ruling, warned that failure to comply with the order could result in legal penalties.

The interim injunction highlights ongoing legal disputes surrounding public commentary and the boundaries of defamation in Kenya’s digital space.
