Deputy Inspector General (DIG) of the Kenya Police Service, Eliud Lagat, has called on officers to maintain professionalism, teamwork, and strict adherence to the law in their daily operations. The remarks were made during an unannounced visit to Kayole Police Station, part of the DIG’s ongoing initiative to evaluate service delivery, operational readiness, and officer welfare across the country.
Upon arrival, DIG Lagat was welcomed by Kayole Deputy Sub-County Police Commander, ASP Michael Agengo, who provided a comprehensive tour of the station’s offices, cells, and general compound. The visit offered a firsthand look at the station’s operational environment, highlighting both challenges and areas of progress.
Addressing the officers, Mr. Lagat commended the Officer Commanding Station (OCS) and the entire Kayole police team for their dedication to duty. He stressed that professionalism, teamwork, and lawful conduct are critical to building an effective and trusted police service.
“The public’s trust in law enforcement is earned through transparency, accountability, and consistent ethical behaviour,” DIG Lagat noted. “Strengthening engagement with the community is essential to enhancing safety and fostering cooperation.”
Officers at Kayole Police Station expressed appreciation for the DIG’s visit, noting that such unannounced engagements enhance communication between field officers and top command, while also serving as a morale boost.
DIG Lagat was accompanied by a senior delegation of top police commanders, including the Commandant of the General Service Unit, SAIG Ranson Lolmodooni; Nairobi Regional Police Commander, AIG George Seda; Nairobi APS Regional Commander, CP Peter Chemose; and the Commandant of the K9 Unit, CP Peter Mnyoto, among other senior officials.
The visit underscores the Kenya Police Service’s commitment to fostering professionalism, strengthening community trust, and enhancing service delivery nationwide.
