Kenya Power has announced that multiple regions across the country will experience planned power interruptions today to facilitate essential maintenance works and enhance service reliability.
In a statement released early Sunday, the utility company apologized for the short notice and assured customers of efforts to minimize disruptions.
“Good morning. We sincerely apologise for the late communication regarding today’s power maintenance. We understand that timely communication is important and regret any inconvenience this may have caused,” Kenya Power stated.
Nairobi County
In Nairobi, power will be off in parts of Karen and Enterprise Road.
- Karen: Outage from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., affecting Karen Police, Tree Lane, St. Elizabeth Secondary, Windridge, Talisman, Asmara, Mwitu Estate, Kerarapon Road, KCB Leadership Centre, and nearby areas.
- Enterprise Road: Outage from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m., covering Road B, Falcon Road, Naivas Warehouse, General Motors, Rubis, Sameer Road, and surrounding customers.
Makueni County
In Makueni, areas stretching from Emali to Nziu and Sultan will be without power between 9:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m. The affected zones include Emali Town, Kalamba Market, Matiliku Market, Kilili, Nziu, Masumba, and adjacent markets.
Uasin Gishu County
In Uasin Gishu, maintenance will affect Racecourse, Jumbo Hotel, and Upper Elgon View from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.
Kisumu County
In Kisumu, parts of the county will experience outages for scheduled works:
- Katito Town and nearby areas including Nyakwere Centre, Sangoro Police, and Sondu Miriu will be off from 9:00 a.m. to 4:45 p.m.
- Chiga Market and surrounding locations such as Masawa and Kasarani will be off from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
Nyamira County
In the South Nyanza Region, parts of Nyamira County including Masige Farm, Rigoko, Metamaywa, and Makone Farm will have no power between 9:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m.
Mt. Kenya Region
In the Mt. Kenya Region, Archer’s Post and Wamba will experience outages from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Areas affected include Maili Nane, Soi, Sarova Shamba, Wamba Town, Lengusaka, Lerata, and neighboring localities.
Kiambu County
In Kiambu, parts of Ngethu and Ngorongo will have no power between 9:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m. The interruption will impact institutions such as Ngorongo Dispensary, Igegania Hospital, Kamwangi Market, and surrounding villages.
Garissa County
In Garissa, the entire Garissa Town and its environs will experience a full-day outage from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Affected areas include the County Commissioner’s Office, Garissa University, Garissa Level 5 Hospital, Madogo, Modika Barracks, and the Garissa Solar Plant.
Kenya Power reiterated that the planned maintenance is part of ongoing efforts to modernize infrastructure and ensure reliable electricity supply nationwide.
