Kenyan hypeman MC Gogo has candidly revealed how false online rumors about his sexuality pushed him into depression, highlighting the damaging effects of unchecked social media narratives.

Speaking to SPM Buzz on Saturday, September 27, 2025, Gogo said the malicious claims and relentless criticism took a toll on his mental health, forcing him to confront the weight of online negativity.

“There was a time I was even depressed. But I also realised that some of the people who come to hurl such claims and criticism at you are actually going through worse struggles themselves,” he shared.

The entertainer recounted how a close friend noticed his struggles and urged him to step away from the limelight. He eventually decided to take a complete break from social media—a move he describes as the best decision of his life.

During this period of silence and solitude, Gogo deliberately avoided online platforms, stayed indoors, and created space to heal. He explained that the break helped him detach from falsehoods, rebuild his strength, and regain clarity.

“Everyone has their own battles, and if you start taking their criticism into your mind, it can easily drive you crazy. That social media break was the best decision I have ever made,” he said.

Gogo emphasized that the retreat reminded him his identity is not defined by external opinions but by the truth he knows about himself. The break, he noted, allowed him to re-emerge stronger, more focused, and deeply aware of the importance of protecting his mental health.
