Nairobi, Kenya – Prime Cabinet Secretary and Foreign Affairs CS Musalia Mudavadi has intensified his campaign efforts in support of President William Ruto’s United Democratic Alliance (UDA), the party vehicle for the 2027 General Elections.
On Tuesday, Mudavadi engaged a delegation of more than 200 supporters under the banner of the “Musalia Power House for Ruto” movement, urging them to rally behind the President’s re-election bid.
Dissolution of ANC and Strategic Alignment
During the meeting, Mudavadi revisited his decision to dissolve his former party, the Amani National Congress (ANC), and merge with UDA. He described the move as a deliberate and forward-looking strategy.
“We chose strategy over shortcuts. Dissolving ANC was a deliberate, forward-looking decision. We are not looking back like Lot’s wife. There is no going back,” Mudavadi told delegates.
Despite a court ruling that nullified the January 2025 merger between ANC and UDA, Mudavadi insisted the dissolution was carried out legally and constitutionally.
“We used legal and constitutional ways. Now we are inside UDA fully,” he said.
Call for Mass Registration
Mudavadi urged supporters to register en masse with UDA, which he referred to as “home.” He emphasized the importance of disciplined organisation within the party, encouraging members not only to join but also to actively participate in the ongoing voter registration exercise conducted by the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC).
Building Momentum for 2027
The Prime CS’s remarks underscore his role as a key ally in President Ruto’s re-election campaign, positioning himself as a mobilizer within UDA’s grassroots structures. His call for unity and voter mobilisation reflects the broader strategy of consolidating support ahead of the 2027 polls.
