Nottingham Forest have dismissed manager Ange Postecoglou after just eight matches in charge, following a 3-0 home loss to Chelsea at the City Ground on Saturday.
In a statement posted on X (formerly Twitter), the club confirmed the decision, citing a string of poor performances.
“Nottingham Forest Football Club can confirm that after a series of disappointing results and performances, Ange Postecoglou has been relieved of his duties as head coach with immediate effect. The club will make no further comment at this time,” the statement read.
The move came shortly after club owner Evangelos Marinakis left his seat during the match a clear signal that the Australian’s time was up.
Postecoglou, appointed on September 9, lasted just over a month in the role. Despite arriving with strong credentials — including a Europa League triumph with Tottenham he failed to register a single win, suffering six defeats in eight matches.
During his final press conference on Friday, Postecoglou had remained defiant, insisting that success only required time.
“If I’m given time at a club, it always ends with me and a trophy,” he said.
Forest are now searching for their third manager this season, with reports linking former Burnley and Everton boss Sean Dyche as a possible replacement.
