Comedian and media personality Oga Obinna has sounded an alarm over alleged threats to Embakasi East MP Babu Owino, claiming that the supporters of the late Raila Odinga have now rallied behind the youthful legislator.

In a passionate video shared on Instagram on Friday, October 17, 2025, Obinna stated that the “army of Raila” has effectively become “the army of Babu Owino,” urging vigilance and unity to protect the outspoken MP.

“I’ve seen Babu’s post saying that some people are planning to harm him around the time of Raila’s funeral. What I would say is that the army of Raila is now automatically the army of Babu Owino. We must protect him,” Obinna said.

He appealed to young Kenyans to reflect before engaging in politically motivated violence or accepting money to harm others, noting that such actions have lasting consequences.

“Before you are sent to harm another young man, sit down and think. We must stop being used. Even I, at this moment, am part of Babu’s army. We must protect the king — who is Babu — at all costs,” he added.

Obinna urged the youth to resist manipulation and instead focus on building their lives and safeguarding Kenya’s future.

“If you’re offered a little money or a bribe, ask yourself: what comes next? Think about your family and your future,” he said.

Babu Owino’s Warning

Obinna’s comments followed a post by Babu Owino, who alleged that there were plans to attack him ahead of Raila Odinga’s burial.

“There are plans to attack me on or before the day of Baba’s burial. I am aware of the culprits behind the scheme. It is my prayer that we give Baba the befitting send-off he deserves, devoid of violence,” Babu wrote on X (formerly Twitter).

The revelation comes as Kenya continues to mourn the passing of Raila Amolo Odinga, who died on Wednesday, October 15, 2025, while receiving treatment in Kerala, India.

His body was flown back to Nairobi on Thursday, October 16, where thousands of mourners gathered at Jomo Kenyatta International Airport and Kasarani Stadium for public viewings. The state funeral, held at Nyayo National Stadium on Friday, October 17, drew dignitaries from across Africa and beyond.

Raila is scheduled to be laid to rest on Sunday, October 19, 2025, at his family’s Opoda Farm in Bondo, Siaya County, beside his late mother, Mary Odhiambo Odinga.
