More than 50 families have been left without homes after a devastating fire tore through residences in the Fuata Nyayo area of South B, Nairobi.

According to local accounts, the blaze is suspected to have been sparked by an intoxicated man who allegedly fell asleep after lighting a cigarette. The flames spread rapidly, leaving residents with little time to salvage their belongings.

Several individuals sustained injuries while attempting to rescue property, but their efforts were quickly overtaken by the fast-moving fire. Nairobi County disaster and emergency response teams later arrived on site, though the destruction was already widespread.

The displaced families are now appealing to the government for urgent support as they begin to rebuild their lives.
