Police officers from the Nairobi Region have arrested a suspected drug peddler following a coordinated intelligence-led operation that resulted in a major cannabis seizure at Umoja 1 Market.

In a statement released by the National Police Service (NPS), authorities confirmed the recovery of approximately 20 kilogrammes of unprocessed cannabis, along with 3,000 rolls and 33 packaged bundles of the substance. All the seized items have been secured as evidence.

“This operation is part of the National Police Service’s sustained efforts to curb the distribution and abuse of narcotics within the city and across the country,” read the statement.

The NPS reiterated its commitment to dismantling drug networks and tackling the wider problem of narcotics and illicit alcohol trafficking across Kenya.

The suspect remains in police custody and is expected to face charges in court once investigations are complete.

The Service also commended the officers involved in the successful operation, praising their vigilance, professionalism, and continued dedication to safeguarding communities from the harmful effects of drug abuse.
