Bomet County, Kenya – Police in Bomet have launched a manhunt for a 29-year-old man accused of fatally stabbing his uncle following a family dispute.

The Incident

According to Bomet County Police Commander Edward Imbwaga, the suspect, Hillary Cheruiyot Sang, ambushed his uncle, Gilbert Kiplangat Bett, 32, on Monday. Sang allegedly stabbed Bett in the cheek and inflicted fatal injuries to his neck, leading to his death at the scene.

Imbwaga reported that the suspect’s mother, Betty Bett, attempted to intervene and defuse the confrontation but was unsuccessful, as her son was reportedly enraged over his uncle’s alleged cohabitation with her.

Police officers rushed to the scene immediately after the incident but were unable to locate the suspect, who fled. The murder weapon has not yet been recovered.

Investigators processed the scene, and the body of the deceased was transferred to Kapkatet Hospital mortuary as investigations continue.
