Police in Soko Mpya, Kinangop, Nyandarua County, have opened investigations into the shocking murder of a Grade Five pupil from St. Christopher Primary School, whose body was discovered on Thursday morning in a maize farm.
According to authorities, the child was found with his head severed, in what investigators describe as a brutal and disturbing killing. Police recovered a bag containing maize flour and the boy’s clothes near the scene, which they believe could provide crucial leads in the ongoing probe.
Residents said the boy had spent the previous day on the farm with his mother but disappeared later in the evening. Despite efforts by family and neighbors to locate him, he was only found the following morning.
The community has strongly condemned the incident, calling on law enforcement to speed up investigations and bring the perpetrators to justice.
Mary Muigai, a child rights officer in Kinangop, urged parents to be extra vigilant and ensure the safety of their children during the long school holiday.
The boy’s body has been transferred to the Naivasha Hospital mortuary for post-mortem examination as investigations continue.
