Police officers in Burat, Isiolo County, have successfully recovered 21 stolen goats and sheep following a coordinated security operation.
In a statement released by the National Police Service (NPS), the livestock were recovered by a team from Kulamawe Police Station, working jointly with National Police Reservists (NPRs) after reports of livestock theft in the area.
The joint team launched intensive patrols across LMD, KMC, Mlango, and Leparua approximately 25 kilometres west of the station. Through close collaboration with local elders, officers managed to trace and recover the stolen animals, which were subsequently returned to their rightful owner.
“Security patrols in the region have been intensified to pursue the criminals involved in the livestock theft and ensure they face justice,” read the NPS statement.
The recovery operation underscores the police’s continued commitment to curbing livestock theft and maintaining peace in pastoral communities within Isiolo County and the larger northern region.
