Nairobi, Kenya – President William Ruto has revealed his plans for life after the presidency, announcing that he will serve as a full-time evangelist once his tenure ends.
Speaking during a service at the PEFA All Nations Gospel Church in Gikomba on Sunday, February 1, 2026, Ruto shared a pact he made with the church’s bishop, affirming his commitment to dedicate himself to ministry.
“Nikimaliza kazi ya kuwa Rais, mimi nitakuwa Evangelist,” Ruto declared, noting that his Pentecostal and Evangelical beliefs align closely with PEFA Church.
He added that he intends to partner with church leadership to actively preach and advance the work of God.
“Na mimi naona hapo kwa PEFA kwa sababu ni Wapentecoste. Mimi naamini pia ni wa Evangelical, mimi naipenda hapo, ndio. Tutashirikiana pamoja, hivyo nikimaliza hii kazi nitakuja niiungane na huyu Pastor Alfred tuendele kuskuma kazi ya Mungu,” he said.
Condemning Disorder in Churches
The president also addressed recent controversies surrounding places of worship, condemning disorder and the use of excessive force inside churches. Without naming individuals, he warned against politicising church events, stressing that sanctuaries must remain sacred spaces.
“As Kenyans, we can engage in politics and seek leadership positions, but churches must always remain spaces of respect,” Ruto said, drawing applause from the congregation.
He added that politics, hatred, or chaos should never infiltrate places of worship, which should instead serve as centres of peace and devotion.
His remarks followed a disruptive incident in Othaya, where a church service was interrupted after a teargas canister was thrown inside. Former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua was among those present and fled through nearby bushes, later claiming it was an attempt on his life.
Gikomba Market Title Deed
Beyond spiritual matters, Ruto also addressed local concerns, announcing that the Gikomba market title deed is being processed to curb speculation and land grabbing.
He explained that the request arose after reports that individuals linked to past fire incidents were allegedly planning to seize the land.
“The first thing I was asked is to get a title deed for the Gikomba market because some individuals were planning to grab the land and were behind the fire problems. And I have committed that I will deliver the title deed for Gikomba, with the county government, within the next 90 days,” Ruto stated.
Conclusion
President Ruto’s announcement of his future as an evangelist underscores his deep ties to faith and ministry, while his condemnation of church disruptions highlights his call for respect and sanctity in places of worship. His pledge to secure the Gikomba market title deed further reflects his commitment to addressing community concerns and safeguarding public spaces.
