President William Ruto has held a consultative meeting with leaders from the Lower Eastern region ahead of this year’s Mashujaa Day celebrations, set to be held at Ithookwe Stadium in Kitui County.
In a post shared on his X (Twitter) account on Friday, October 10, 2025, President Ruto said Kenya’s journey toward economic stability has been challenging but rewarding, noting that his administration has made significant progress in lowering inflation, restoring confidence, and reducing the cost of living.
“We have come a long way in stabilising our economy. The task ahead now is to accelerate our economic growth and create wealth and jobs,” Ruto stated.
The President credited the collaborative efforts of the national government, county leadership, and the private sector for the progress achieved so far, emphasizing that sustainable economic growth requires shared responsibility.
Focus on Economic Transformation
Ruto reaffirmed his government’s commitment to ensuring that the benefits of economic recovery reach ordinary Kenyans through job creation, better access to credit, and improved county infrastructure.
“This calls for our collective commitment and focus. We will march on together, every step of our way, for the long-term transformation of Kenya,” he said.
During the meeting at State House, the President discussed development priorities, investment opportunities, and ongoing infrastructure projects in the Lower Eastern region.
Wiper MP Joins Hands with Government
Among those in attendance was Mwingi West MP Charles Ngusya Nguna, a member of the Wiper Democratic Movement Party. Ruto welcomed the legislator’s decision to collaborate with the government, describing it as a bold and unifying gesture toward improving livelihoods in his constituency.
“I specifically thank Mwingi West MP Charles Ngusya Nguna of the Wiper Party for his bold move to join our team so as to push forward the development agenda in his constituency,” Ruto noted.
Mashujaa Day Preparations Underway
The meeting comes as preparations intensify for the Mashujaa Day celebrations in Kitui County, where President Ruto is expected to lead national commemorations. He reiterated his administration’s commitment to inclusive development and equitable growth across all regions of the country.
