Internal Security and National Administration Principal Secretary Dr. Raymond Omollo has called on the church to partner with government in consolidating peace gains and strengthening community values, stressing that security and stability are the foundation for development.

Speaking on Saturday during a service at Mogotio Seventh Day Adventist (SDA) Church, Dr. Omollo said government efforts to curb banditry and livestock theft in the Kerio Valley and wider Rift Valley are bearing fruit. He urged residents, elders, and faith leaders to sustain progress through peace messaging, responsible citizenship, and cooperation with local security structures.

“Let us promote peace and responsible citizenship by working with our local administrators, Nyumba Kumi structures, village elders and security agencies,” Dr. Omollo said, adding that the calm being witnessed across the region should be protected through sustained community vigilance and unity.

Warning Against Criminal Networks

Dr. Omollo issued a stern warning to criminals and individuals posing as business people who target youth with illicit drugs and harmful products, vowing decisive government action.

“As a ministry, we have marching orders from the President. We will not negotiate with unscrupulous individuals who seek to profit from destroying our children,” he declared.

Expanding Service Delivery

The PS highlighted ongoing efforts to operationalise new administrative units to bring government services closer to citizens. In Mogotio, three new locations and three sub-locations have been established, while across Baringo County, five divisions, more than 20 locations, and over 40 sub-locations are being rolled out.

“We are doing this so that wananchi can get services conveniently without walking long distances accessing the Chief, the Sub-Chief and other Government offices with ease,” he explained.

Education and Learner Transition

Dr. Omollo reiterated the President’s directive that no child should miss school due to lack of fees, uniform, or shoes, urging parents to take advantage of the extended reporting period. He commended county officials for efforts to ensure learners report to school, noting that Baringo’s transition rate stood at 71% against a target of 100%.

“Within the next one week, let us follow up on the President’s directive and ensure every eligible learner reports to Senior School,” he urged.

Tackling Youth Unemployment

The PS cited the NYOTA Programme as a key intervention to uplift livelihoods, with over 121,000 young people set to benefit nationally. Each ward will see 70 youth receive a Ksh.50,000 grant to expand businesses or start new enterprises.

He also underscored the importance of skills recognition and certification, noting that formal certification can boost artisans’ earning potential and open opportunities for employment locally and abroad through the government’s labour mobility programme.

Development Projects in Mogotio

Dr. Omollo highlighted ongoing projects under the Affordable Housing Programme, including complementary developments such as markets and hostels that stimulate local economic activity. In Mogotio, affordable housing units and a modern market have already been launched, alongside other initiatives designed to expand access to services and jobs.

He emphasized that development under the Kenya Kwanza Administration is being implemented nationwide, citing projects in North Eastern, Coast, Nyanza, and Rift Valley.

Call for Unity and Civic Participation

Dr. Omollo urged leaders and communities to remain united, protect children from social ills, embrace education, and safeguard peace gains.

Mogotio MP Reuben Kiborek, who attended the service, encouraged residents especially youth to take advantage of government services to acquire national identity cards and register as voters ahead of upcoming elections. He emphasized that civic participation strengthens democracy and accountable leadership.

Conclusion

Dr. Omollo’s message underscores the government’s dual focus on peace consolidation and inclusive development, with the church and community playing a central role in sustaining progress. As Kenya prepares for future elections, the call for unity, responsible citizenship, and civic engagement remains critical to building a secure and prosperous nation.
