The Cabinet Secretary for Public Service, Geoffrey Ruku, has strongly criticised former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua for alleging that he visited Ruku’s grandmother during a door-to-door campaign in Mbeere North.

Speaking at a campaign rally in Muminji on November 18, Ruku dismissed the remarks as baseless and misleading.

“Riggy G, you are spreading lies to Kenyans that you went to my grandmother’s house for tea,” the CS said, calling the claims “stupid talk.” He clarified that both of his parents are deceased and that he has never met his grandmother.

Ruku was on the campaign trail to drum up support for Leonard Muriuki Wamuthende, the United Democratic Alliance (UDA) candidate in the upcoming November 27 by-election.

The Mbeere North parliamentary seat fell vacant following Ruku’s appointment as Cabinet Secretary for Public Service and Human Capital Development, sparking intensified political activity in the constituency.

The by-election has attracted two candidates: UDA’s Wamuthende and Newton Karish of the Democratic Party (DP).

Ruku emphasised that voters in Mbeere North are seeking leaders who prioritise respect, development, and employment opportunities.
