A security guard was killed in an early-morning robbery at a liquor store in Kahawa West, Nairobi, where armed criminals stole goods estimated at KSh 2.5 million.
According to police reports, the incident occurred at approximately 4 a.m. when the attackers broke into the shop, disabled the CCTV system, and ransacked the premises.
Kasarani police officers have opened investigations into the robbery and fatal assault. The store owner, Nicholas Mwongera, said neighbours alerted him around 7 a.m., prompting him to report the incident at the Kahawa West Police Station.
Residents have raised concerns about escalating insecurity in the area. Many attribute the rise in crime to a prolonged blackout after Kenya Power removed a transformer for repairs three weeks ago and has not restored it, leaving the neighbourhood in complete darkness.
Local leaders and residents are urging authorities to take immediate action to improve security and address the power outage before further incidents occur.
