Six people were killed and at least 46 others injured following a road accident involving a passenger bus and a trailer at the Tunnel area along the Londiani–Muhoroni road on Tuesday morning.

Kericho County Police Commander James Ngetich confirmed the incident, stating that the bus, operated by Uwezo Sacco, collided with the rear of the trailer under circumstances that are yet to be established. Both vehicles were reportedly travelling towards Kisumu at the time of the crash.

According to Ngetich, five passengers and the bus driver died at the scene. Thirty passengers sustained serious injuries and were rushed to various health facilities within the county, including Londiani Sub-County Hospital and Fort Ternan Hospital. Thirteen other passengers suffered minor injuries and were treated before being discharged, while several others escaped unharmed.

Police have launched investigations to determine the cause of the accident. The county police commander urged motorists to exercise caution on the roads to help prevent avoidable crashes.
