Turkana County, Kenya – Tension remains high in Kakong’u village, Turkana South constituency, after armed bandits stormed the area, killing six people, injuring two others, and driving away more than 2,000 animals in a brazen attack.
Attack Paralyzes Transport
The incident, which occurred on Saturday, brought transport along the busy Lodwar–Kitale highway to a standstill for the entire day. Police officers, working alongside reservists, mounted a pursuit of the attackers, who remain at large.
Police Response
Turkana County Police Commander John Tarus confirmed the incident, noting that a multi-agency team has been deployed to restore calm and track down the perpetrators. He urged residents to remain patient and avoid retaliatory attacks, stressing that security agencies are working to contain the situation.
Meanwhile, the bodies of the six victims have been preserved at the Lodwar Referral Hospital mortuary.
