Authorities in Uganda have launched a manhunt after a Uganda Prisons Service officer allegedly shot dead three people at Kiboga Prison on Sunday, February 22, 2026.

The Incident

According to a press release issued on February 23, 2026, the suspect, identified as No. 13544 Warder Anguyo Moses, opened fire at around 10:00am, killing his supervisors and a civilian.

The victims were named as:

  • Assistant Superintendent of Prisons Hope Catherine – Deputy Officer in Charge
  • Principal Officer I Akishuri Bright – third in command
  • Ms. Ayebare Sarah – spouse of the Officer in Charge

Security Response

The suspect fled the facility immediately after the shooting. Police secured the scene, and joint security teams have been deployed to track him down.

Although the firearm used in the attack has been recovered, officials warned that the suspect remains at large and is considered dangerous.
