The United Democratic Alliance (UDA) has secured decisive victories in all three by-elections held Thursday, strengthening its political foothold in both Eastern and Western Kenya.
Mbeere North Constituency Wins
In Mbeere North, UDA candidates clinched two crucial ward seats:
- Evurori Ward – Duncan Muratia won with 7,853 votes, far ahead of Albert Muchira of the Democratic Party (DP), who garnered 1,940 votes.
- Muminji Ward – Peterson Njeru emerged victorious with 3,201 votes, defeating Boniface Ngari of the DEB Party, who received 2,232 votes.
These results underscore UDA’s commanding presence in the constituency.
Kabras Ward Victory
In Kabras Ward, UDA’s Elphas Shalakha secured the MCA seat with 3,317 votes. He defeated:
- Bramwel Khaemba of the Democratic Congress Party (DCP) – 2,640 votes
- George Musini of the National Economic Development Party (NEDP) – 199 votes
The Kabras contest was closely watched as a test of party strength in Western Kenya, with UDA’s victory marking a significant inroad into the region.
