Former President Uhuru Kenyatta has postponed a planned visit by a youth group to his home in Ichaweri, Gatundu, Kiambu County, citing lack of formal communication.
Statement from the Office of the 4th President
In a statement released Sunday by Kanze Dena, Communication Secretary for the office of the 4th president, Kenyatta’s team clarified that the visit could not be approved as it had not been formally communicated.
“We wish to clarify that President (Rtd) Kenyatta is currently not in a position to host the said group,” the statement noted.
The youth group was urged to communicate in advance to allow for seamless arrangements ahead of any future engagements.
Kenyatta’s Position on Dialogue
Despite the postponement, Kenyatta emphasized his openness to dialogue with all groups, provided it is conducted respectfully.
“He firmly believes that dialogue between generations is essential for shaping the future of our nation, and he welcomes opportunities for constructive engagement,” the statement added.
Conclusion
The decision highlights the importance of formal communication and structured engagement when seeking meetings with national leaders. While the visit has been put on hold, Kenyatta’s willingness to foster dialogue underscores his continued interest in promoting unity and mutual respect across generations.
