Former Sailors Gang member Shalkido has revealed plans to make a return to music—but this time with a different perspective. Speaking on Thursday, September 25, 2025, during an interview at his new home with YouTuber 2mbili, the artiste shared that his focus will no longer be financial gain but pure passion for the craft.

Reflecting on his journey, Shalkido admitted that relying solely on music for survival had been difficult and often unrewarding. He noted that the highest income he ever earned from his solo career was about Ksh 250,000, a gift from a fan who paid him in dollars during a live show. Outside such rare moments, he described the experience as financially straining.

“Right now, if I return to music, it will only be for fun. Only I know what I went through. Being an artiste is not easy,” he said.

The singer also explained why he once appealed for a motorbike rather than a car when seeking support, saying it was a practical choice given the circumstances and the expectations of Kenyans.

Despite the challenges, Shalkido acknowledged the support he has received from fellow entertainer Oga Obinna, who furnished his bedsitter, giving him a much-needed fresh start.

With this new outlook, Shalkido hopes to reconnect with music on his own terms, free from the financial pressures that once weighed heavily on his career.
