Authorities in Siaya County have launched an investigation into the brutal killing of an 18-year-old woman whose body was discovered in a bush along a roadside in Achage Village, Nyandiwa Sub-location.

According to a police report, the body was found on Sunday evening by two local residents, who immediately alerted the village elder. The elder then notified police, prompting officers from Siaya Police Station to visit and process the scene before transferring the body to the Siaya County Referral Hospital mortuary.

The victim has been identified as Christine Achieng, a bartender who lived and worked in Usenge, Bondo Sub-county. Her sister confirmed her identity after being contacted by a resident who recognized her.

Police noted that the body appeared recently deceased and bore visible blood stains on the chest. Although the victim was fully dressed, her undergarments had been removed and placed beside her body, leading investigators to suspect possible sexual assault.

No arrests have been made so far, and police say investigations are ongoing to establish the motive and apprehend those behind the killing.
