European airlines are continuing to suspend services across the Middle East as security concerns intensify amid the ongoing regional conflict.
On Wednesday, KLM announced that it had cancelled all flights to Dubai until March 28, citing safety concerns linked to the war in the region.
In a company statement, the Dutch carrier emphasized that the decision was taken to protect both passengers and crew.
“Due to ongoing unrest in the Middle East, KLM has decided to cancel all flights to Dubai up to and including March 28,” the airline said.
“The safety of our passengers and crew is always our top priority.”
The airline also acknowledged the disruption caused to travellers and said it was working to keep affected passengers informed about alternative arrangements.
Evacuation Efforts
KLM said it has been coordinating closely with the Dutch Ministry of Foreign Affairs to assist with the evacuation of Dutch citizens stranded in parts of the region as tensions escalate.
Other Airlines Extend Suspensions
The move follows similar decisions by several major European carriers.
Germany’s Lufthansa earlier announced it was extending the suspension of flights to several key destinations across the Middle East. The airline said it had cancelled flights to and from Dubai and Abu Dhabi in the United Arab Emirates, as well as to Dammam in Saudi Arabia, Amman in Jordan, and Erbil in Iraq until March 15.
Flights to Beirut in Lebanon and Tel Aviv in Israel have been suspended until April 2, while services to Tehran in Iran will remain halted until April 30.
Meanwhile, Air France has extended its own flight suspensions across the region. The French airline said services to Tel Aviv and Beirut will remain suspended until March 13, while flights to Dubai and Riyadh in Saudi Arabia are cancelled until March 12.

Airlines have been closely monitoring developments in the Middle East, where escalating tensions have raised concerns about airspace safety and airport operations.
Industry analysts say airlines are taking precautionary measures to minimize risk while authorities continue to assess the evolving security situation.
The widespread suspensions highlight how geopolitical instability can rapidly disrupt international travel, forcing airlines to adjust routes and schedules across some of the world’s busiest aviation corridors.
