Embakasi East MP Paul Ongili, popularly known as Babu Owino, has called on young Kenyans to register as voters, saying it is the only way to remove President William Ruto from power in the 2027 general election.

Speaking at a public event on Monday, September 29, 2025, Babu accused President Ruto of dividing the country instead of uniting it. He urged Kenyans to prepare early to ensure the next election reflects the will of the people.

“You must register as a voter so that we disappoint Ruto and appoint Kalonzo, because Ruto is busy antagonising this country instead of organising it,” Babu said.

The MP openly endorsed Wiper Party leader Kalonzo Musyoka, describing him as the right alternative for 2027. He argued that Kalonzo has the capacity to unite the nation and provide the leadership that Kenya currently lacks.

Babu likened the upcoming election to pivotal votes in history, including the 2020 U.S. election where Americans ousted Donald Trump and Kenya’s 2002 election that ended Daniel arap Moi’s long rule. According to him, 2027 will follow the same pattern, with voters more focused on removing Ruto than choosing his opponent.

Kalonzo, who has already declared his presidential bid, has also warned against electoral malpractice, urging the government to ensure a free and fair contest.

Babu Owino, a consistent critic of the Kenya Kwanza administration, insisted that the country cannot move forward under Ruto’s leadership. He maintained that Kalonzo “ametosha” and should be supported as the candidate to bring change.
