Deputy President Kithure Kindiki has expressed confidence that the broad-based government will secure another term in 2027, citing ongoing development projects and inclusive programmes that have consolidated national support.

Broad-Based Governance

Speaking in Suba South Constituency, Homa Bay County, during a Resource Mobilization Event for micro and small trader groups, the DP dismissed talk of “one-term politics” as theoretical and fruitless.

“This broad-based government has brought real and tangible benefits to all the people across the country. One-term is theory; broad-based is practice and serving all Kenyans,” he said.

Kindiki emphasized that the administration is inclusive, ensuring equitable development across all regions.

Development Projects in Homa Bay

The DP inspected the Ksh.150 million Nyandiwa Fish Landing Site, which will provide fisherfolk with modern facilities including fish coolers. The project is part of several landing sites under construction along Lake Victoria.

Other key projects highlighted include:

  • Mfangano Island Ring Road – funded at Ksh.3.3 billion, with progress ongoing.
  • Homa Bay Town Fish Market – completed at Ksh.350 million and handed over.
  • 22 modern markets under construction across the county.
  • Affordable housing projects and expanded electricity connections.

“This is the development we are talking about electricity, markets, roads, housing, and empowerment of youth,” Kindiki stated.

Political Context

The DP praised ODM leaders in Nyanza for supporting the government, saying they are fulfilling the wishes of the late party leader Raila Odinga. He noted that the region is moving away from opposition politics to embrace development within government structures.

Kindiki also commended National Treasury Cabinet Secretary John Mbadi, a native of Suba South, for ensuring timely release of funds to accelerate projects nationwide.

“When you hear about all this development roads, electricity, markets, and fish markets the person managing and signing for Kenya’s funds is a son of Suba South, a son of Homa Bay, Mr. John Mbadi,” he said.
