Kenyan rap star Femi One has revealed a quirky personal habit that has trailed her since her high school days, admitting it recently caused a stir during her Europe tour.
In a candid video shared on her Instagram on Saturday, September 27, 2025, the Utawezana hitmaker disclosed that she developed a tendency to eat food extremely quickly while in school—a behaviour that has stuck with her ever since.
Femi explained that the habit began in high school, where she often arrived late to the dining hall and had to gulp down porridge or food within seconds before sessions ended.
“I used to arrive late at the dining hall, and I would swallow porridge and food in seconds. Surprisingly, I still have that habit to this day,” she said.
While the practice seemed harmless in her youth, the rapper admitted it has occasionally placed her in awkward situations as an adult. During her European tour, her rapid eating pace left many stunned, with some even whispering behind her back.
Femi clarified that her habit is not driven by gluttony but rather by long-ingrained conditioning. Still, she acknowledged that in Europe, where dining is treated as a slow, cultured experience, her eating style may have reinforced negative stereotypes about Africans.
“They were like, Africans will never beat the allegations about our feeding. I’m sure they were left backbiting about me, wondering what is wrong with this artiste,” she confessed.
The award-winning rapper admitted that the experience left her embarrassed and reflective, concluding that it is time to break the cycle.
“I really need to unlearn that,” she said with a laugh.
Her revelation sparked amusement and admiration among fans, who praised her honesty while encouraging her to embrace her uniqueness.
