Nairobi, Kenya — Anthony “Pastor T” Mwangi, the senior pastor of Life Church International in Limuru and a prominent gospel artist, shared his life‑changing testimony on Netwalking TV, detailing a journey that saw him shift from secular hip‑hop culture and Rastafarian influences to devout Christian ministry.
Pastor T, whose entertainment career began in the early 2000s as a hip‑hop artist, said music was his first platform of expression. He produced and performed in Kenya’s vibrant hip‑hop scene, blending ragga and reggae rhythms, and steadily built a following. His early works, including mixtapes like Finje Finje and others, showcased his lyrical skill and garnered nominations at multiple awards shows in Kenya.
Despite success in the music world, Pastor T recounted that his life lacked spiritual grounding, a void that led him through years of experimentation with various cultural and musical identities, including periods influenced by Rastafarian culture. Though reggae and Rastafarian music historically emphasize themes of liberation and spiritual identity, he said this path ultimately did not satisfy his deeper search for meaning.
The turning point in his life came with a personal encounter with Christianity. Pastor T described how this experience reoriented his priorities, leading him to commit his life to Christ and pursue formal theological training in ministry after leaving his secular music pursuits behind.
Today, Pastor T is recognised not just as a preacher but as a voice that bridges youth culture and spiritual faith. He continues to produce gospel music and speaks regularly to young audiences about faith, purpose, and redemption. His work as a mentor and youth influencer extends beyond the pulpit, reaching hundreds of thousands annually through gospel music shows, radio ministry, and online content platforms.
