Parts of Victoria’s iconic Great Ocean Road experienced severe flash flooding after intense rainfall in a short period, authorities reported. Emergency warnings were issued for communities near Wye River, Kennett River, and Cumberland River, urging residents to stay indoors and avoid floodwaters.

Meteorological reports indicated that more than 170 millimetres of rain fell in the affected areas. Local media captured scenes of cars being swept off roads and carried toward nearby beaches, with several vehicles stranded near a bridge.

Despite the widespread damage and disruption to travel, authorities confirmed that no injuries had been reported. Emergency crews continue to assess the situation and provide support to impacted communities.

Residents have been advised to exercise caution, avoid driving in flooded areas, and follow updates from local emergency services.
