The Kiambu County Government has dismissed reports suggesting that health services have been crippled by an ongoing doctors’ strike.

Chief Officer for Health, Patrick Nyagah, speaking on Friday, October 3, 2025, clarified that all hospitals across the county remain operational despite disputes with the Kenya Medical Practitioners, Pharmacists and Dentists Union (KMPDU).

No Crisis in Kiambu

Nyagah stressed that while not all doctors are currently on duty, a sizable proportion continues to serve, ensuring that health facilities remain open to residents.

“The misconception is that doctors in Kiambu are not working. That is not true. All our hospitals are operational. This is a labour dispute, not a collapse of the health system,” he stated.

He further refuted claims that the strike had led to widespread deaths or paralysis of services, noting that such a crisis would have already triggered visible community alarm.

Community Assurance

“If a village lost 20 babies, there would be an outcry in churches, hospitals, and communities. We have not had such incidents,” Nyagah explained, dismissing suggestions of large-scale health emergencies.

Ongoing Dialogue

The county government urged calm, assuring residents that medical services remain available as discussions with KMPDU continue.
