The Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) has rescheduled its 20th anniversary celebrations in Mombasa, originally set for October 10–12, 2025, to November 14–16, 2025.
In a statement issued on Friday, October 3, ODM explained that the postponement followed a consultative meeting chaired by party leader Raila Odinga at the Serena Hotel. The decision aims to expand outreach and inclusivity by extending the ODM@20 activities to more counties before the grand finale in Mombasa.
Expanded County Itinerary
So far, celebrations have been held in Busia, Wajir, Kisii, and Narok. However, strong requests from counties such as Kajiado, Turkana, Kilifi, and Nairobi prompted the leadership to extend the calendar.
The updated ODM@20 program includes:
- October 9–10: ODM@20 Soccer Tournament
- October 15: Kajiado County Engagement
- October 26: Turkana County Engagement
- November 2: Kilifi County (Magarini) Engagement
- November 9: Nairobi County Engagement
Emphasizing Inclusivity and Unity
ODM underscored that the extension reflects its core values of unity, democracy, and citizen participation. By engaging more regions, the party seeks to ensure that all supporters, including those unable to travel to Mombasa, have an opportunity to be part of the historic milestone.
“These activities will culminate in the ODM@20 Grand Celebrations in Mombasa, 14th–16th November 2025. The postponement is meant to strengthen our outreach, deepen inclusivity, and ensure that this milestone is celebrated by all Kenyans,” the statement read.
The party also expressed gratitude to its members, partners, and supporters for their patience and continued commitment as preparations move forward.
