Saboti Member of Parliament Caleb Amisi has strongly criticised Interior Cabinet Secretary Kipchumba Murkomen, accusing him of failing to address the escalating insecurity in his constituency.

Speaking in Parliament on September 30, 2025, Amisi highlighted a disturbing surge in violent crimes in Nakara Village, including multiple cases of defilement, rape, and murder, which he said have left residents living in fear.

Child Murders Spark Outrage

The MP cited two recent tragedies that have shocked the community:

  • August 2, 2025: Four-year-old Zibbora Goraria was defiled and murdered by unknown assailants.
  • August 26, 2025: Seven-year-old Prezzy Nafula was attacked and killed on her way home after being sent away from school.

Despite both incidents being reported to police, Amisi lamented that no arrests have been made, deepening mistrust in security agencies.

“Over the past year, Nakara Village has witnessed a distressing surge in insecurity, yet no visible action has been taken to curb it,” Amisi told the House.

Accountability and Security Gaps

Amisi demanded a comprehensive report from the Departmental Committee on Administration and Internal Security, outlining:

  • The status of investigations into the killings of Nafula and Goraria.
  • Measures being taken to address the rising crime.
  • Reasons for the poor performance of security agencies.
  • Resource allocation to Saboti Police Station, including personnel and equipment.

He further insisted that Murkomen personally visit Saboti to address the crisis, warning that residents’ patience was running out.

On his X account, Amisi declared: “Murkomen must come down to Saboti to sort the issue of insecurity. It is a demand by the people of Saboti. Kenya needs a renaissance!”

Call for Immediate and Long-Term Solutions

The legislator urged the government to implement both urgent interventions and sustainable strategies to restore safety, particularly for children and vulnerable groups.

“Residents of Saboti deserve to live without fear,” Amisi said.
