More than 20,000 dogs have gathered at the National Exhibition Centre in Birmingham for the annual Crufts, the United Kingdom’s largest and most prestigious dog show.
The four-day event features judging, breed competitions, and training demonstrations, attracting handlers, breeders, and dog enthusiasts from around the world. Organised by The Kennel Club, the competition continues to draw a growing international presence, with a record number of overseas participants this year.
According to organisers, more than 4,000 dogs have travelled from abroad to compete, with strong representation from France, Italy, Germany, and Netherlands.
For many participants, simply qualifying for Crufts is considered a major accomplishment. Competitors present their dogs in front of judges on the show’s iconic green carpets, where they are assessed on posture, movement, temperament, and adherence to specific breed standards.
Founded in 1891, Crufts has evolved into a global gathering for dog lovers and professionals within the canine world. Visitors to the event move between multiple competition rings, watch demonstrations, and meet hundreds of different dog breeds.
The show will culminate on Sunday evening when one dog is awarded the coveted Best in Show title widely regarded as the most prestigious honour in the world of dog competitions.
Beyond the competitive arena, Crufts also serves as a celebration of responsible dog ownership, breeding excellence, and the enduring bond between humans and their canine companions.
