In February 2026, renowned American YouTuber MrBeast (Jimmy Donaldson) unveiled ten new classrooms at Nyakichiwa Primary School in Bomet County, continuing his growing footprint of philanthropic projects across Kenya.

Feeding Programme and Education Support

MrBeast explained in a YouTube video that his team had launched a school feeding programme in 2025, providing free lunches to pupils every school day. The initiative, set to run for five years, has already boosted school attendance by 10 percent.

“Every school day, the students get a free lunch,” MrBeast said, adding that the poor state of classrooms inspired him to build new facilities.

This project is part of a wider African initiative, with similar support extended to schools in Ghana, where he was conferred the title Chief of Development after building a classroom for 250 students.

Medical Aid and Community Health

Just a month earlier, MrBeast funded surgeries for 1,000 Kenyans unable to afford critical medical care. Through Beast Philanthropy, his team set up surgical camps in Narok, Kisumu, Homa Bay, and Nairobi, targeting treatable conditions such as cataracts, hernias, and thyroid disorders. Patients were transported from remote areas, hospitals were supplied with equipment, and procedures were documented in a YouTube episode.

Previous Initiatives in Kenya

MrBeast’s philanthropic journey in Kenya dates back to 2023, when he drilled 52 boreholes as part of his “100 Wells” project, giving half a million people access to clean water. He also installed water tanks, piped water to schools, donated bookshelves and sports equipment, and pledged to build a safer bridge after encountering a dangerous wooden crossing.

In April 2025, he supported Oloirien Primary School in Narok County, constructing a modern kitchen, supplying desks, and establishing a greenhouse and farm to sustain a two-meal-a-day programme. The school was left with food for 100,000 meals.

Conservation and Wildlife Protection

Beyond education and health, Beast Philanthropy has invested in conservation, installing seven solar-powered weather stations in the Maasai Mara to aid ecosystem monitoring, generate carbon credits, and support ranger families affected by flooding.

Broader Debate

MrBeast’s interventions have sparked debate in Kenya, with many citizens questioning why a foreign content creator can deliver visible results faster and more efficiently than local political leaders with access to public resources. His projects highlight the contrast between philanthropic efficiency and government bureaucracy, raising concerns about strategic neglect in public service delivery.
