The Nairobi courts are hearing chilling details in the case against Hashim Dagane Muhumed, also known as Hashim Mohamed Khalif, who is accused of murdering four women in late 2024. Following a series of killings on October 21–22, Hashim allegedly killed a fourth woman, his girlfriend Deka Abdi Noor Gorane, on the night of October 29–30 at Valley Heights Apartments in Lavington. Prosecutors say the killing was intended to cover up his earlier crimes.

According to Senior Assistant Director of Public Prosecutions Gikui Gichui, Hashim allegedly mutilated and boiled Deka’s body before placing it in a black wastebag, later attempting to dispose of it at Lang’ata Cemetery.

CCTV evidence presented by Corporal Lawrence Kamau revealed a detailed timeline of the accused’s movements. Footage from October 22 shows a small car parked at Sixth Avenue, Parklands, reversing over an object identified as a human body. Additional clips captured a man in a white shirt and black trousers, accompanied by a woman in blue, walking at Valley View Apartments before the man returned alone.

On October 29, Deka was recorded leaving her apartment in maroon clothing and visiting a nearby Quick Mart supermarket, returning with shopping bags, one of which resembled the bag Hashim was later seen carrying on October 31. At 05:59 that morning, Hashim was captured carrying two black bags while waiting for the lift, carefully inspecting the contents, according to Kamau’s testimony.

The evidence paints a harrowing picture of premeditation and meticulous planning, highlighting the court’s ongoing efforts to piece together the timeline leading to Deka’s death.
