Authorities in Rachuonyo West have arrested two individuals during a coordinated operation targeting illegal alcohol and narcotics. The operation, conducted on November 25, 2025, involved officers from Kendu Bay Police Station and National Government Administration Officers (NGAO) in the Kakoth Kataa area of the sub-county.
Officials recovered 94 rolls of cannabis and 37 litres of Chang’aa, a locally brewed spirit. The suspects are currently in custody and are expected to be arraigned in court on relevant charges.
“This operation forms part of nationwide efforts to curb the production, distribution, and sale of illicit substances,” the National Police Service (NPS) stated. “Similar actions will continue across the country to safeguard public health and safety.”
The crackdown follows another recent seizure in Kendu Bay, where police confiscated 500 litres of Kangara and 20 litres of Chang’aa at a brewing site in Nyakwere Village, Kobuya East. A suspect was also arrested during that operation. Authorities emphasized that illegal alcohol production poses significant health risks to local communities.
The NPS reaffirmed its commitment to intensifying operations against illicit alcohol and narcotics, calling on residents to report suspicious activities to help curb the menace.
