Police in Mbooni East, Makueni County, have launched investigations following the suspected killing of an 11-year-old boy found dead in a lodging facility in Mbumbuni town.
According to preliminary reports, a middle-aged woman had booked a room at the facility on Saturday night, accompanied by her three children.
Authorities suspect that the boy was strangled under unclear circumstances. Mbooni East police commander Ephraim Karani confirmed that the child was discovered dead in the room on Sunday morning, while the mother was reported missing. The other two children remained in the room at the time of the discovery.
Police have initiated a manhunt for the woman, with investigations ongoing to determine the motive and exact circumstances surrounding the incident. Residents have been urged to report any information that could assist in locating the suspect.
Makueni County police officials emphasized that the case is under active investigation and pledged to provide updates as new information emerges.
