Nairobi, Kenya — One of Nairobi’s most celebrated matatus, Mood, has received a fresh revamp, now sporting colorful artwork of global YouTube sensation IShowSpeed in anticipation of the streamer’s upcoming visit to Kenya.

Images and videos shared on Instagram showcase the newly upgraded vehicle, including graphics of IShowSpeed and football superstar Cristiano Ronaldo on the rear. The makeover took place at a local workshop, where the vehicle’s bold new design replaced its previous artwork, which featured two women.

Launched in 2025, Mood quickly became one of the city’s most loved Nganyas, attracting thousands of fans eager to see the matatu’s flair on Nairobi’s streets. The matatu is owned by George Ruto, son of President William Ruto.

IShowSpeed’s African Tour

At just 20 years old, IShowSpeed has transformed from a gaming streamer into a global entertainer, amassing billions of views for his energetic, comedic, and sports-focused streams. Known for his love of Cristiano Ronaldo and the iconic “Siuuu” celebration, he has captivated audiences worldwide.

Kenya is among the 20 countries on his African tour, which has already taken him to Angola, Zimbabwe, Eswatini, Zambia, Botswana, Mozambique, and South Africa. Other planned stops include Algeria, Benin, Egypt, Ethiopia, Ghana, Ivory Coast, Liberia, Morocco, Nigeria, Rwanda, and Senegal.

During his Kenyan visit, IShowSpeed has hinted at streaming a safari experience, but Nairobi’s vibrant Nganya matatu culture is expected to feature prominently. Fans anticipate he may ride in some of the city’s most iconic matatus, including Heartless, Dice, Brawl Out, Matrix, Money Fest, Opposite of Umoja, Moxie, Baba Yaga, and Delirium.

Matatu Culture as Art and Entrepreneurship

In Nairobi, matatus have evolved beyond public transport into mobile canvases and cultural hubs, blending art, music, design, and entrepreneurship. The Mood matatu’s transformation illustrates how Kenyan matatu culture continues to thrive, combining creativity with a love for global pop culture.

With IShowSpeed’s visit on the horizon, the intersection of international entertainment and Kenya’s unique street culture is set to capture the imagination of fans both online and on the city streets.
