President William Ruto has lauded his United States counterpart, Donald Trump, for productive high-level engagements held in Washington, D.C., describing the discussions as a milestone in fortifying bilateral ties between Kenya and the United States.
In a detailed statement on X, President Ruto highlighted renewed collaboration in the health sector, noting the recent signing of a KSh 208 billion health agreement aimed at strengthening Kenya’s healthcare system. The President emphasized that the deal would not only save lives but also uplift communities and accelerate Kenya’s journey toward universal health coverage.
“Kenya sincerely appreciates the clarity of purpose, the spirit of cooperation, and the readiness of President Trump’s administration to forge a bold and mutually beneficial course for the future,” President Ruto wrote.
On trade and investment, Ruto expressed optimism regarding progress in initiatives designed to expand African manufacturing, open new markets, and create employment opportunities. He observed that U.S. interest in Kenya’s digital economy, infrastructure development, and green transition signals a new era of shared economic prosperity.
The President further praised the United States for its continued support for peace and stability in the Horn of Africa and the Great Lakes region. He underscored discussions on counter-terrorism, maritime security, and conflict resolution as central to enhancing regional stability and safeguarding strategic interests.
“Kenya values President Trump’s personal leadership and the renewed momentum he has brought to our bilateral relationship,” Ruto stated, affirming that Kenya is committed to ensuring that the agreements reached in Washington translate into tangible benefits for its citizens.
President Ruto’s visit to the United States, made at the invitation of President Trump, also included witnessing the signing of the Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC)–Rwanda peace agreement, reflecting Kenya’s active role in regional diplomacy and conflict resolution.
This trip marks a significant chapter in Kenya–U.S. relations, reinforcing cooperation across health, trade, security, and regional stability initiatives.
