President William Ruto has once again defended and celebrated his administration’s record, outlining key achievements since the Kenya Kwanza government took office in 2022. Speaking on Wednesday, October 1, 2025, during the launch of the Nairobi International Trade Fair, the Head of State highlighted milestones in healthcare, housing, and agriculture, describing them as proof of his administration’s transformative agenda.
Social Health Authority (SHA) Gains Public Trust
Ruto placed significant emphasis on the Social Health Authority (SHA), which he said has registered over 26 million Kenyans. He described this as a testament to both the programme’s credibility and the public’s confidence in the government’s healthcare reforms.
“Our SHA is working, and that is why 26 million Kenyans have already registered. That is not a small number to joke with. It shows that Kenyans have believed in our approach and the programme’s effectiveness,” the President said, noting that transparency and efficiency remain central to its rollout.
Affordable Housing Progress
On housing, the President pointed to visible progress in a sector long plagued by delays. He reported that the government has completed 170,000 affordable housing units across the country, asserting that the results speak for themselves.
“Housing that has been pending for many years, today we have built 170,000 units across Kenya. They are visible; even the naysayers cannot deny anything anymore,” he stated.
Agricultural Transformation Driving Food Security
Turning to agriculture, Ruto acknowledged the challenges but praised the ongoing transformation in the sector. He said reforms are already contributing to food security and economic growth, underscoring agriculture’s role in shaping Kenya’s economic future.
“Our agricultural transformation is working, and it is delivering food security and economic growth,” he said.
Call to Action for Leaders
Using the achievements as a rallying point, the President urged leaders to seize the opportunity to elevate Kenya’s development trajectory.
“The opportunity for Kenya to become a first-world country is now. The opportunity to take up our responsibility, work for it as if our life depends on it, and take Kenya to the next level has been here, and it is for us to grab,” Ruto emphasized.
