Prime Cabinet Secretary Musalia Mudavadi has announced the appointment of two former United Democratic Alliance (UDA) aspirants from Malava Constituency to key diplomatic positions, fulfilling promises made during recent political engagements in the region.

Simon Kangwana has been named Education Attaché at the Kenyan Mission in Uganda, while Rhyan Injendi Malulu has been appointed Trade Attaché at the Kenyan Embassy in South Africa.

Kangwana expressed gratitude following the announcement, stating, “I sincerely thank His Excellency Dr. William Samoei Ruto and Prime Cabinet Secretary Musalia Mudavadi for appointing me.”

Malulu similarly praised the appointment, pledging to advance Kenya’s diplomatic and commercial relationships. “I want to thank the President, the Prime Cabinet Secretary, Speaker Moses Wetangula, and CS Oparanya for the combined effort that made this opportunity possible,” he said.

The appointments follow earlier assurances from President William Ruto, who promised government placements for the UDA aspirants in return for supporting the party’s candidate, David Ndakwa, in the Malava by-election.

Another former aspirant, Leonard Shimaka, was recently appointed to the Kenya Revenue Authority (KRA) Board for a three-year term. Shimaka’s appointment was confirmed by the National Treasury Cabinet Secretary on November 4, 2025, with KRA welcoming him officially on November 11, 2025.

“I am deeply honoured for the trust placed in me. I am committed to supporting the transformation of KRA and helping the institution exceed its revenue targets,” Shimaka said.

KRA Commissioner General Humphrey Wattanga noted that Shimaka joins the board as the authority enters a new phase focused on customer service, innovation, and institutional trust.

During a rally at Malava Primary School, Mudavadi invited the newly appointed Kangwana and Malulu to read their appointment letters publicly. He used the event to reaffirm the administration’s commitment to local development and to urge residents to vote for UDA’s Ndakwa in the upcoming by-election.

“The president has kept his word regarding UDA aspirants and the development projects underway in Malava,” Mudavadi said. He added that electing Ndakwa would provide the constituency with “easier access to government services” due to the candidate’s alignment with the ruling party.

He further stated, “An MP from the ruling party easily accesses government services because of proximity to the president and key government actors. The late MP Malulu Injendi left you in government; ensure that you stay inside.”
