Nominated Member of Parliament Sabina Chege has clarified why she was absent from the Jubilee Party National Delegates Conference (NDC) held on Friday, September 26, 2025, at the Ngong Racecourse.

Speaking during a media interview on Tuesday, September 30, Chege explained that while she once served as acting party leader under the Jubilee constitution, she was never formally invited to the recent event led by retired President Uhuru Kenyatta.

“I was not the Jubilee Party leader, only the acting party leader as per the constitution, until we held a National Delegates Convention. I did not attend the NDC because I was not invited,” she stated.

The high-profile conference, presided over by Uhuru Kenyatta, brought together influential Jubilee figures, including Vice Chair David Murathe, Secretary General Jeremiah Kioni, Deputy Organising Secretary Pauline Njoroge, and former Gatundu North MP Wanjiku Kibe. Political allies such as Peter Kenneth and former Interior Cabinet Secretary Fred Matiang’i also attended, highlighting the party’s enduring political network.

In his keynote address, Kenyatta urged members to strengthen the party’s democratic processes and safeguard its unity.

“It is my hope that from today, members of Jubilee Party will decide the future of the party and not a few individuals sent from outside,” the retired President affirmed, receiving strong applause from the delegates.

Chege’s absence, despite her past leadership role, has stirred fresh conversations around Jubilee’s internal dynamics as the party continues to reposition itself in Kenya’s evolving political landscape.
