Natembeya confirmed that officers stationed at his residence, as well as those directly attached to him, were recalled at midnight on Wednesday.

This development comes in the wake of a violent incident on Saturday, November 22, in which armed attackers ambushed the governor during an event in Chwele Ward, Kabuchai, Bungoma County. The same group is reported to have targeted the residence of Kabuchai MP Majimbo Kalasinga.

Images and video circulating online showed extensive damage to the governor’s vehicles. Natembeya claimed he was shot at multiple times after the assailants disrupted the rally.

He has linked the attack to National Assembly Speaker Moses Wetangula, a long-standing political rival.

While inspecting damage at Kalasinga’s home, Natembeya issued a strong rebuke, accusing Wetangula of deploying state machinery to advance political interests.

“This is completely unacceptable; it is not politics. Members of Parliament, this is your Chairman behaving this way… your leader in the National Assembly is responsible for these actions sending goons to destroy a colleague’s home simply because they hold a different political view,” he said.
