The Wiper Democratic Movement has issued a blistering response to the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) over its recent remarks on Raila Odinga’s health, dismissing the party’s statement as “political theatre” and “an act of desperation.”

In a strongly worded post shared on X (formerly Twitter) on Sunday, October 5, 2025, Wiper accused ODM of engaging in misplaced drama and losing its moral and political direction. The party clarified that Kalonzo Musyoka bears no ill will toward Raila Odinga, emphasizing their long history of cooperation and mutual respect.

“Let it be stated clearly that Kalonzo Musyoka harbours no ill will whatsoever toward Odinga. The two leaders share a long public history of cooperation and mutual respect,” the statement read.

Wiper: ODM Trying to Distract from Internal Confusion

Wiper further claimed that ODM’s attack was a diversion tactic aimed at shifting public attention away from growing divisions within the ruling coalition, which ODM now supports.

“It is a mockery of the nation’s intelligence that ODM, once a beacon of reform, now finds comfort in bed with a regime that butchered young people during the Gen Z protests and continues to abduct online critics in the dead of night,” Wiper stated.

The party accused ODM of betraying its reformist roots and aligning with President William Ruto’s administration, which it said had failed to uphold democratic values.

AU Chairmanship and Political Accountability

Wiper also addressed Raila Odinga’s failed bid for the African Union Commission chairmanship, insisting that Kalonzo had no involvement in the outcome. Instead, the party blamed the loss on “diplomatic mismanagement” by the Ruto government — the same administration ODM now backs.

“His defeat was not a shock but a reflection of the government’s diplomatic failures and lack of strategy on the continental stage,” Wiper asserted.

Kalonzo’s Stand: Integrity Over Convenience

Concluding the statement, Wiper reaffirmed Kalonzo Musyoka’s commitment to justice, integrity, and democratic values, warning that he would not be dragged into ODM’s internal turmoil.

“No one will drag Kalonzo Musyoka into their self-inflicted political decay,” the party declared.

The war of words between Wiper and ODM highlights the growing rift within the opposition, with analysts suggesting it could reshape alliances ahead of the 2027 General Election.
