Charlene Ruto Celebrates Traditional Koito Engagement Ceremony in Narok

President William Ruto’s daughter, Charlene Ruto, is celebrating a major family milestone as she takes part in her traditional Koito engagement ceremony at Intonna Heritage Farm in Kilgoris, Narok County.

The colourful ceremony has brought together family members, friends and prominent public figures, with guests arriving at the expansive venue in helicopters and motorcades.

Brown has emerged as the theme colour for the occasion, with guests turning up in carefully coordinated outfits that have added an elegant touch to the cultural celebration.

Among the notable guests spotted at the ceremony are Cabinet Secretaries Aden Duale and Kipchumba Murkomen, Nairobi Governor Johnson Sakaja, nominated Senator Karen Nyamu, MPs Felix Odiwuor and Linet Toto, and Nairobi Woman Representative Esther Passaris.

The high-profile attendance has given the traditional event a glamorous atmosphere while maintaining its cultural significance.

Charlene’s Engagement to Isaya Yunge

Charlene is traditionally getting engaged to Isaya Yunge, a technology entrepreneur and digital innovation enthusiast.

Yunge has been described as an optimist, futurist and visionary with interests spanning technology, entrepreneurship and sustainable digital innovation.

He was named among Forbes Africa’s 30 Under 30 promising young change-makers and received the Queen’s Young Leaders Award in 2018 for his work using technology to develop sustainable digital solutions.

His involvement in technology and youth advocacy began early. At the age of 17, he was selected as a UNICEF Africa Youth Ambassador and participated in advocacy around children's rights and activism, including speaking at the G8 Summit.

Yunge has also undertaken training in sustainable business models through the Swedish Institute and studied Leading Change at Cambridge University. He is also an alumnus of the Harvard Ministerial Leadership Program.

He is the founder and CEO of Goodsam Technologies and co-founder of Smart Kaya LLC, a smart-home technology venture focused on developing hands-free smart speakers for African households.
