President Ruto to Grace Kenya Music Festivals 2026 State Concert in Bungoma

BUNGOMA, Kenya — President William Ruto is set to attend the Kenya Music Festivals 2026 State Concert at State Lodge, Bungoma, on Friday, August 14, as the government brings together performers and cultural groups to celebrate Kenya's diverse musical heritage.

According to a media invitation issued by State House Press Secretary Emmanuel Talam on Thursday, August 13, the State Concert is scheduled to begin at 8 a.m. at State Lodge, Bungoma.

The invitation, issued through the Executive Office of the President, confirmed the event's date and venue and invited accredited media organisations to cover the concert.

Talam also provided details on media accreditation and access arrangements for journalists attending the event.

“For clearance, text your crew details, including the media house represented, ID number, and valid MCK accreditation number,” the notice stated.

Performers to showcase Kenya's cultural diversity

The State Concert is expected to bring together music students, performers, teachers, cultural groups and other stakeholders involved in the Kenya Music Festivals.

The event will provide a platform for participants to showcase performances drawn from Kenya's rich musical and cultural traditions, while highlighting the role of music and the creative arts in nurturing young talent.

President Ruto's expected attendance is set to give the national music festivals greater prominence as performers converge in Bungoma for the showcase.

The Kenya Music Festivals have traditionally provided students and other performers with opportunities to develop and display their artistic abilities through music, dance and cultural performances.

The Bungoma State Concert will therefore form a key part of the 2026 festival programme, bringing together participants and audiences to celebrate the country's cultural heritage through music.

Media invited to cover State Concert

State House has invited accredited media crews to cover the event. Journalists seeking access to the venue are required to submit details of their media organisations, identification numbers and valid Media Council of Kenya (MCK) accreditation numbers for clearance.

The concert is expected to highlight Kenya's cultural diversity while providing young performers with a national platform to showcase their skills and creativity.
