Oga Obinna Mourns Stoopid Boy Years After Helping Him Seek Rehabilitation

Media personality Steve Maghana, popularly known as Oga Obinna, has mourned Gota City rapper Stoopid Boy following news of his death, years after helping him seek professional support for substance-use struggles.

In a video shared on Instagram on Thursday, August 27, 2026, Obinna appeared visibly shaken as he walked while repeatedly calling out the late rapper’s name.

“Yoo man, Stoopid Boy, man. Wee,” he said.

The brief reaction reflected the shock surrounding the rapper’s death, with Obinna appearing to struggle to process the news.

Obinna’s earlier intervention

Obinna had previously played a role in efforts to help Stoopid Boy seek rehabilitation.

In January 2025, the Obinna Live host publicly asked Kenyans to recommend an affordable and reputable rehabilitation facility where the rapper could receive help.

“Any good and affordable rehabilitation centres around Nairobi for substance abuse? Comment below I’ll visit them today so we can hook up a brother and get him back on his feet,” Obinna posted at the time.

The appeal followed Stoopid Boy’s appearance on Obinna’s show, where the rapper spoke openly about his struggles with alcohol and his desire to stop drinking.

Stoopid Boy acknowledged that alcohol had become a serious challenge and said he wanted to change his lifestyle but was finding it difficult to overcome the habit.

The discussion came after several incidents involving the rapper had attracted public attention, including videos showing him appearing intoxicated in entertainment venues.

Those incidents sparked concern among some fans and contributed to wider conversations about his wellbeing.

Stoopid Boy spoke about substance use struggles

During his conversation with Obinna, Stoopid Boy also discussed difficulties in his personal life and how they had affected him.

He spoke about a previous relationship and claimed that the relationship deteriorated after he experienced financial difficulties.

The rapper also disclosed that his struggles had extended beyond alcohol and said he had previously used other substances.

His disclosures prompted Obinna and other well-wishers to support his rehabilitation efforts.

Stoopid Boy subsequently entered a rehabilitation programme with assistance from Obinna, Dr Castro, King Pheezle and others.

However, he later spoke about the challenges he encountered after leaving rehabilitation and his efforts to rebuild his life.

Music career cut short

Stoopid Boy, best known for the Arbantone hit “G Bag Na Jug,” remained active in music despite the personal challenges he faced.

His friend and fellow artiste Raveen Domi said the rapper had been in good spirits shortly before his death and was still working on new music.

Domi recalled that Stoopid Boy told him he was heading to the studio to continue recording.

He also said the rapper had several unfinished projects and plans that they had hoped to work on together.

The death has sparked an outpouring of grief among fans and fellow artistes, particularly in Gota City, where Stoopid Boy had established a strong following.

Obinna’s reaction has also highlighted the years of efforts by friends and members of the entertainment industry to support the rapper through difficult periods in his life.
